Caruso doesn't like cameras

Caruso and Lib

I'm not sure why, but every time I've tried to take a photo of him, he's ended up hiding somewhere.

The other night, he was snuggled on my lap, purring away, and I asked David to sneak into the office, grab the digital camera and take a photo. As soon as Caruso saw the camera, he tensed up, but I held onto him, petting him and whispering that it was okay, and David managed to snap one picture before Caruso bolted.

As you can see, we both have gray hair.

Our oldest cat, Pookie has been just like that much of her life. It's as if she fears we are stealing her soul. Usually, it was the high pitched "twee" of the flash that set her off, but sometimes it was just the sight of the camera. Only the dog seems to like being photographed. Caruso is quite a looker!

He's truly gorgeous, Lib. So are you.

I agree that Caruso is a gorgeous guy (not all that sure about me, but I thank you just the same, Reev!)

I mentioned his skittishness around cameras at the shelter yesterday, and discovered this is a fairly common phenomenon with cats -- maybe they know something we don't know? Wouldn't surprise me!

There is an old fable about Cats stealing your soul by sitting on your chest while you sleep ... and another about cameras/pictures and the theft of souls. Me thinks the cat knows something we do not suspect! ;D

I believe that cats see into a dimension about which we are completely unaware!
